On Friday, 16 August, our Sydney team made a meaningful contribution to the environment by participating in a tree-planting initiative at the Lucas Heights Conservation Area. This event, organised by Greenfleet, brought together a group of volunteers to help restore native forests on Dharawal Country.
Representing Grace on the day were team members: Derryk Guyer, Regional General Manager; James Knipler, Eastern General Manager; Glenn Kearton, Sydney Manager; and Greg Pelli, National Manager, Client Relationships and Digital Solutions. The event kicked off with an Acknowledgement of Country by Graham Avery, followed by insightful briefings from Greenfleet about the importance of the project in fostering climate resilience.
Before they began planting, they were joined by Brad and the Sutherland Shire team, who played a crucial role in organising and facilitating the event. Their collective efforts resulted in the planting and watering of around 800 native trees, including species like Ironbark Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus paniculata) and Turpentine (Syncarpia glomulifera). These species are vital to the restoration of the ‘Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest,’ an Endangered Ecological Community that provides critical habitat for local wildlife, including koalas and possums.
The tree-planting initiative is a significant step toward offsetting carbon emissions, reinforcing Grace’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. By partnering with Greenfleet, Grace not only contributes to carbon reduction efforts but also supports the creation of biodiverse forests that offer essential ecosystem services.
